John Cena Pearl Harbors The Rock Edition of RAW Review:
-Show starts off with CM Punk in the ring with a microphone. Punk was great in this. He said that for weeks he's watched Randy Orton take out the New Nexus and that the New Nexus and the people of Chicago were his people too. However he doesn't need them because he can get new sheep anytime he wants, LOL. That was great. He also said that he cost Orton the respect of his family. On cue Orton hobbled out to the ring and nailed Punk with a DDT but couldn't hit the running Punt to the head because of his injured knee. Punk went to leave but then went back in the ring to attack Orton's leg beforre hitting the Go To Sleep. This segment was really good. This feud is MUCH better when Punk is talking on a microphone or tormenting Orton's horrible acting wife.
-Edge and Christian making fun of stipulations backstage.
-Edge and Christian defeated Alberto Del Rio and Brodus Clay. Heels worked over Christian for most of this. Ended with Del Rio tripping Edge as he sets up for the Spear. After Clay missed a corner Avalanche Edge hit the Spear for the win. Post-match had Del Rio put Christian in the Code Red on the floor. Edge chases Del Rio to the back but when he goes to check on Christian Del Rio backjumps him and then puts him in the Code Red. This match and post-match action was all very good.
-Santino Marella beat Justin Gabriel. They announced The Corre vs. Santino, Vladimir Kozlov, Big Show, and Kane for Mania. I like this for the mere fact that Santino is at Mania. Brief interference plagued match saw Santino win and then Kane did the Santino celebration post-match after a brawl between all of them. Brief but amusing.
-Undertaker came out soon followed by Triple-H. Shawn Michaels came out and talked about both of them before getting in Trips' face over why he thinks he can do what HBK couldn't. Trips said HBK got soft and didn't need to win because he already was the showstopper whereas he has to win. Trips said he grew to respect Taker and the only man he respects as much is HBK. Trips told Taker his time was up and he would Rest In Peace. Taker says he would like Trips to be the guy to put him down when the time came but now wasn't the time. Taker said HBK gave him his best matches at Mania and couldn't get the job done. Taker said the confidence and arrogance from HBK was gone and that he humbled him and said he would go in the Hall of Fame with regrets before saying he ended HBK's career before shoving the mic into HBK's chest. HBK went for Sweet Chin Music but Taker blocked and grabbed him by the throat before Trips broke it up. Trips then asked HBK to tell Taker why he would beat him at Mania. HBK left the ring and mouthed "I'm sorry, you can't win" to Trips as Taker looked on with a smirk on his face before leaving. This one segment made up for six weeks of crap segments and ass kissing video packages that set this up. This one segment was better than all of those COMBINED. Great segment.
-Jack Swagger defeated Jerry Lawler. Brief match with Swagger knocking Lawler to the floor. He then threw Lawler into the timekeeper's area at ringside. Lawler grabs a chair and repeatedly hits Swagger with it to lose by DQ. He then goes for Michael Cole but Cole hides out in the Cole Mine and then throws a drink in Lawler's face as his security holds him back. Cole is the modern Bobby Heenan folks. Acts tough and then runs and hides like a coward when confronted. Translation: I like this a lot.
-Sheamus and Dolph Ziggler defeated Daniel Bryan and John Morrison. As usual Vickie Guerrero get nuclear heat during her pre-match promo. Ziggler and Sheamus worked over Morrison for most of this. Bryan tagged in and put Ziggler in the LaBell Lock but Sheamus broke it up. Morrison saves Bryan and takes out Ziggler. Sheamus escapes from the LaBell Lock. Bryan misses a Dropkick and lands on his back before Sheamus hits the Celtic Cross for the win. Excellent wrestling here. The two tag matches were the best wrestling on this show.
-Orton backstage gives an excellent short promo about his anger issues and how much he wants to destroy Punk.
-Road Warriors in the Hall of Fame. I like this very much. They kicked ass.
-Trish Stratus and Snooki at a Jersey Shore bar. Some guy kept hitting on them so Snooki wanted Smush Smush and kicked his ass. LayCool shows up, Snooki throws a drink in their faces, and there's a catfight. This sucked except for the skin I saw from LayCool. Can Snooki go away...far away now. Pretty please? Worst part of the show but luckily it was short.
-The end of the show had The Rock come to the ring. The people went wild. Said Chicago was where he first competed in a WrestleMania and he was nervous but overcame that to create Team Bring It. He said he had a dream that he called out Cena, Cena came out looking like a homeless Power Ranger, and then Rock kicked his ass before the dream ended. Rock said it was a reality now. Cena comes out. Cena says he wanted Rock back and basically kissed his ass for five minutes. Cena said he's proud to be a hero to kids and says he's telling it like it is to Rock's face and Rock shouldn't judge him. Rock said only God can judge them but even he can't stop him from kicking Cena's ass. Miz and Alex Riley come out. Miz said Cena will lose at Mania and Rock doesn't want to get beat up and embarassed because his movies have grossed over 1 billion dollars so Rock won't do anything. Rock says it doesn't matter what he thinks and then Miz and Riley attacked him. Rock threw Riley out of the ring and DDT'd and gave Miz a People's Elbow. He threw Miz out to the floor only to be FU'd by Cena to end the show. Solid ending. Sets up multiple scenarios at Mania including a Cena heel turn that is 95% unlikely to happen.
Overall: Great show this week. Best RAW since the Road to WrestleMania started and the first one in that six week period that didn't have a Cole/Lawler segment be the best thing on the show. Other than the Snooki Jersey Shore bar fight crap segment this was a great show.
So is Cena a heel now? @reno419rockstar on twitter.
ReplyDeleteNope, Cena is not a heel. He's more of a tweener in this storyline.
