Nevada Education Rally Rant:
Alright now here's a rant about the planned Education Funding Rally called Shut Down the Strip that is supposed to happen tomorrow. Naturally I assume everyone will be thinking that I would be for this since I'm a student at UNLV and am a substitute teacher again with CCSD. However this Rally has Epic Fail written all over it and here's why. For one the rally is taking place at noon on Sunday when most people will be in church. Two it's happening at the same time the NASCAR race is going on at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. In other words NO ONE WILL BE ON THE STREETS. NO TOURISTS WILL BE DOWNTOWN. I put that in caps so that it sinks in. Why hold a rally when NO ONE WILL BE THERE TO SEE IT?! That doesn't make any sense whatsoever. If anybody who put this idea together was elected they need to be removed from office for having the worst planning skills in the history of the human race. This is the epitome of failure to correctly plan a rally. If you want to get people's attention don't do it whenever people aren't going to be around. Everyone is either going to be watching the NASCAR race, at the NASCAR race, working, or at church. This is idiocy as far as planning goes and let me throw this out there as to why it is stupid. If there is no one else around to see the rally then did it actually happen? They need to do this on a BUSY weekday or weekend where the city will be filled with tourists and there are no distractions. Like I said in the last blog about this, they need to learn from what happened in Egypt. UNLV is where this needs to take place. The protesters need to do a massive rally from the Strip that takes over part of it after leaving from the grounds and stay there sticking their ground. Shutting down the Strip means actually shutting down the Strip. Once the takeover begins then have shifts and hold it as long as you can. Look at the people in Tahrir Square in Cairo or the Capital Building in Wisconsin. There's food vendors all over the place. Collect some money and send people out on food runs. Bring tents, sleeping bags, and anything else that is needed. If they REALLY want to make an impact then that's the way to do it. Think logically and it will work. This is not the way to do it and is planned very poorly. If ANYONE of the people attending this rally read this please for the love of God tell the organizers that they picked the wrong time to do this because if everyone is focused on something else then no one will see this rally. This needs to be done on a day when it's highly visible and will make a REAL impact and tomorrow is not the day to do this at all. Like I said, go by my plan and it'll work and have a major impact. Go by the plan being used tomorrow and it'll be an afterthought behind the NASCAR race.
