Star Trek...Could That Happen?:
The latest edition of Heel Heat's Could That Happen? blogs relates to Star Trek. I've already done Star Wars, Godzilla, and Superheroes so why not this? Well I decided to do some looking and found some interesting. However the first thing I do think is plausible is the scenario put forth in the movies. Not the part about the light speed test but the first contact with the extraterrestrials, in this case the Vulcans. The only way any of this would happen is if we made contact with friendly extraterrestrials that helped us reach the capabilities of space travel. Otherwise the human race would destroy itself long before we got this point. I also found a website of an actual Starfleet Academy. However most of them are for roleplaying sites so this search was fruitless. However I did find the International Star Trek Fan Association, aka Starfleet, in hopes of finding something similar to the Jedi Order and Sith Order sites I found while doing the Star Wars post. This was BY FAR the most relevant link as far this article is concerned. Turns out that Starfleets are their local chapters and they even have Star Trek uniforms for the higher ups. Not joking. There's even pictures of it on the About Us section. However this group has been around for 35 years so they do have staying power. However the plausibility of an actual Starfleet being formed are slim to none unless extraterrestrial life comes down to make it happen. I also found the Klingon Language Institute where you can learn the Klingon language. This site was really cool. I liked it at lot and found it to be quite fascinating. Also found the Klingon Imperial Diplomatic Corps website and this was another Klingon dedication site. Interesting that the Klingons get more sites of fans than the actual Starfleet. However I think the Starfleet site has more members though so it evens out. Looked up the Vulcans too and found that there's a Spock Days festival in Vulcan, Alberta, Canada in Vulcan County. That's probably the closest you'll find to an alien planet relating to its article. No articles on the Ferengi or the Borg though. However Star Trek, while plausible, could only happen if we make contact with peaceful extraterrestrials. Could happen, but it probably wont. However I want to believe and will hope that something like that happens. Anyway not likely to happen.
