Scream 3 Review

To end my Scream reviews I will be reviewing Scream 3. This movie stars Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox-Arquette, David Arquette, Jenny McCarthy, Liev Shrieber, Lance Henrikson, and Carrie Fischer. Let the running commentary begin.

Running Commentary -
Starts off with Cotton Weary on the phone in his car. He gets a strange phonecall from a woman. The woman says he's naughty and what would his girlfriend. The voice changer switches and it's a guy who says he's right outside of his girlfriend in the shower. The guy says he wants to know where Sydney Prescott is. Cotton speeds off to save his girlfriend before she gets killed.
Christine changes and suddenly a song by Creed starts playing over the stereo. Cotton talks to her but it's the ghostface killer with a voice changer and a knife. She locks herself in a closet before the killer gets at her. Cotton arrives and his 100% Cotton show is on the TV. He gets a baseball bat and sneaks through the house. Christine confronts him and charges him with a golf club. She thinks he wants to kill her but he tries to calm her down. She smacks him down only to get stabbed by the real killer. The killer pushes Cotton over his desk and then stabs him. The killer tells him he should've told him where Sidney was and then says he loses before stabbing him to death. Good opening sequence.
Sydney lives in the hills and works as an operator in the California Women's Crisis Center phone line.
Gail Weathers giving a speech at a conference. She's an anchorwoman now and Mark Kincaid from the LAPD shows up afterwards to tell her that Cotton was dead. He shows her a picture and she recognizes her as Maureen Prescott, Sydney's mother. Sydney sees the story about it on the news too.
Stab 3 is being filmed at the same time all of this is going on.

The actors are all paranoid and talking about the murder. Police are there too. Gail shows up on the set and runs into Dewey. Dewey and the actress playing Gail in Stab 3 have a confrontation with Gail. Dewey correctly figures out she has a camera in her purse and they take her out of the studio.
Jay and Silent Bob in a pointless cameo.
Sydney has a chat with her dad and he wants her to come home since she has no visitors where she's at.
Jenny McCarthy waiting for Roman the director and he wants to talk about her role. Roman wants her to read her part from the script and she's mad about her crappy part. The person on the line says her name is Sarah and she's mad that there's a new script and a new movie. The man says his new movie is he's going to kill her. Now she's frightened and runs off. She ends up hiding in the costume room with all the ghostface costumes. She calls for security on her cellphone as the killer sneaks out and pushes her costume rack through the door. She fights him with fake props but he smashes her through a window and stabs her.
Gail and Dewey meet up. Dewey tells her a woman called a station in two months and went looking for Sydney's file. A month later they broke into the station but he already had it removed.
Dewey and Gail arrive at Jennifer's house and they realize someone is killing the actors in the same order they die in the movie. Gail is mad her character dies in Stab 3 and he lives in a trailer outside.
The detective tells them that there's three versions of the script and they don't know which one the killer read.
The detectives take Roman away after they say Jennifer got called by him the day she died.
Sydney gets a call on her phone hotline and the woman says she killed someone. Sydney says they need to call the police and the woman says she wants to call her. She realizes it's her home phone number that's being called and the person says to turn on the news. The killer asks her if she thinks it's over.
The actors and actresses are at Jennifer's house boozing it up and getting depressed over the movie being shut down.
Gail sneaks over but gets caught by Jennifer's security goon. She tells him the call from Roman was from a cloned cellphone. Gail tells her Maureen Prescott left Woodsboro and nobody knows where she went or what she did. Dewey recognizes the background in the picture of one of Maureen's old photo and it's at the studio Stab 3 is being shot at.
The killer comes out of nowhere and kills Jennifer's security guard.
Everyone meets up and the security guard falls over dead right in front of them. They get a fax from the killer and the house explodes after the guy who plays Dewey flicks open his lighter and the gas in the house makes it explode. Everyone else makes it out after rolling down the hill in the back.
The detective thinks there's a third killer and Sydney might know who it is. Dewey argues with the detectives about the case. Sydney shows up and says the killer called her.
Randy's sister shows up and shows them a video that Randy made for them in case he died. He says the the sequel rules don't apply and this is a trilogy. Says something will be revealed from the past that they thought was true isn't. He says the killer will be superhuman, anyone including the main character can die, and the past will come back to bite you in the ass.
Gail and Jennifer team up to get some info on Maureen Prescott's past.
CARRIE FISHER!
They find out Maureen Prescott had the stage name Rena Reynolds and she starred in horror films. She was also in John Milton's pictures.
Sydney wanders onto the movie set and into her bedroom in the fake house. Sydney runs away and the killer falls out through the fake door and down to the bed on the floor below. The killer chases her and then almost kills her but she jumps out the window to be saved by the cops and Dewey.
Jennifer, Gail, and Dewey confront Milton about knowing Maureen Prescott and he didn't realize it until after seeing the movie script. He tells her he was a partier in the '70's and said that she got taken advantage of. Said she wouldn't play by the rules.
Sydney and the detective have a chat. There's some tension but nothing happens.
Sydney calls Dewey and Gail, Dewey, and Jennifer go to Milton's house to meet Sydney and Det. Kincaid. They arrive and everyone is there except Sydney. They all naturally wander off to check out the place. Dewey calls the phone that called them and find it in a closet with a costume and voice changer.
Roman and Jennifer are missing. Gail finds Roman's dead body with a knife in his chest. Jennifer and Gail run off and they find Angelina but she runs off. Angelina gets killed by the ghostface killer.
The killer attacks everyone. The killer punches Dewey twice, kills Tyson, and makes them all split up just to get away.
The killer stalks Jennifer and Dewey sees the mirror moving. He shoots it out only to see the body of Jennifer after the killer stabs her.
The killer grabs Gail and he's knocked down. Gail calls Dewey and says he's knocked out. Dewey gets knocked down and it's just Gail left.
The killer calls Sydney and tries to lure her into a trap using Dewey and Gail as bait. He also taunts her by talking about her mother.
Sydney shows up at the house and the killer makes her use a metal detector before coming inside. Sydney finds Dewey and Gail tied to chairs. She then pulls out a second gun and shoots the killer afetr he punches her down but the body is gone.
The killer tries to kill Kincaid when he arrives. Sydney runs out of bullets before the killer chases her down. She escapes by finding a hidden passage.
Sydney ends up in a theater watching video of her mom. The killer finds her but she's locked in with him because he has the controls. The killer reveals he had on a bulletproof vest. The killer says he had a mom named Maureen Reynolds and tracked her down. Says he was shut down by her and turned away by her. The killer is Roman. Says he watched her and filmed her affairs. Roman showed the video to Billy and helped guide him. He caused all of this. Roman says he's not the villain, she is. He shows he has Milton hostage and he's the one who ruined her life. He made her into a slut. His plan is to make her look like a killer. Roman slits Milton's throat. His plan is to make Sydney look like the killer and make him look like the hero.
Sydney and Roman have a battle. They trade punches. Roman is choking Sydney when Gail and Dewey finally get into the room. Roman shoots Sydney twice. Roman goes to leave when Sydney stabs him twice. She reveals she put on the bulletproof vest and then stabs him a third time. Roman gets up and Dewey shoots him in the head after Sydney tells him to so Roman finally dies.
Ends with the four survivors having a good time at Sydney's house in the middle of nowhere.

Overall:
2 out of 5 stars. Stupid garbage horror flick. Nothing special about this at all. I really hated the story and most of the characters. The killer was stupid too.
