The Big Show: A Giant's World DVD Review

This is the Heel Heat review of The Big Show: A Giant's World.

-I like how they talk about his height first which makes it seem like he overcame a lot.

-Paul has a half-sister and grew up in a nomadic type family. He also grew up on a farm.

-He started showing signs of his disease when he was 10.

-Interesting story about how he was when he first started getting tall.

-He was 6'8 at age 16.

-His freshman year of college he found out he has Acromegaly. Him talking about the side effects of the disease and the tumor being removed as well as the aftermath was interesting.

-Show had a bad patch for a few years including his father dying and his sister moving out of town.

-He was a car salesman and was real good about it. This leads to the famous story toothpaste sandwich story.

-He then met Danny Bonaduci who brought him to a celebrity basketball game and there he met Hulk Hogan. This led to him joining WCW.

-William Regal was one of his first friends in his business. Triple-H was there too. Terry Taylor was his main trainer.

-Arn Anderson talks about his first time in the main events.

-He won the World Title in his first match from Hulk.

-Show was extremely agile when he first got into the sport.

-He talks about WWF being major league to WCW being minor league going by the differences he saw.

-This was a fun story to hear especially with the intro when he climbs through the ring.

-Show was humbled by his first years in WWF and he had to get his act together.

-The Boss Man angle! YES! That was one of my all time favorites. The graveyard scene was great.

-Show talks about the match where he was thrown into the World Title match and won the belt.

-Chavo's right. When he joined the WWF Show FINALLY got to show his personality.

-He got sent to OVW when he stopped working hard. He was stuck tearing the ring down and it humbled him.

-Talk about the superplex breaking the ring is great.

-I like the bus Show has. His traveling story is wild. I like his bus was Toby Keith's bus.

-Show's time as ECW Champion was something I totally forgot about.

-Show's workout looks rough.

-The Floyd Mayweather angle where Floyd hits him 5 times and the Show charges down Floyd and his entourage was great. I saw that live.

-The Floyd/Show storyline, match, and angle was all very well done.

-Show has done a lot of acting work and celebrity stuff in Hollywood.

-Show is a great comedy actor which will work well for him after wrestling. His wife's comments about it were pretty amusing.

-Great comments at the end of the documentary part from Show.

Special Features:

-Show's wife is talking about meeting the parents and his wife's mom feeding him for 4 hours straight. She talks about when they had all the food and Show loves her family.

-Show didn't like his ring name The Big Show.

-Show talks about The Rock and talks about Rock was the only one who really talked to him his first few weeks there.

-Boss Man and Albert get in a car and Show traps them in the car with a forklift. He then smashes up the car and then pushes over a dumpster onto the car.

-The Show Funeral: YES! THIS IS ONE OF THE GREATEST SEGMENTS EVER! The moment Boss Man shows up in the Blues Mobile it's awesome.

-Show talks about his career and about how he is entertaining. Show starts dancing.

-Show has to dress up as The Bigfather and Vince had to go talk to Show's wife about him kissing one of the ho's as The Bigfather. The compromise was his wife being the Ho. Funny story.

-Show gets mad at Torrie Wilson for laughing at him and hen punches out the windows of her car. Show then turns her whole car over.

-Luther Reigns talking down Show's match with Akebono and runs down Show. Says he should be in the match instead of Show and says he's going to push over the 4400 lb. Jeep he drove out in. Reigns can't do it and then attacks Show only to get Chokeslammed. Show pushes it over.

-Trips commentary on the Show/Akebono event and Show getting hot dogs is hilarious. Show's nacho incident is great. The story of Show falling over down the stairs at the airport is funny too.

-Show's cousin Kenny was in Knucklehead.

-Show's lifestyle change is funny. He doesn't want a placemat or a coaster yet his wife wants him to have them. This started with his boxing training for the Mayweather match and his diet change.

-Show talks about Trips, Austin, Lesnar, Rock, Foley, and Cena.

Matches:

-The Giant vs. Hulk Hogan:

This is from WCW Halloween Havoc 1995. This is the monster truck sumo match...yeah, WCW was this bad before nWo. NOT KIDDING. Hulk wins it. They fight after getting out of the trucks and Giant gets knocked off the roof.

-The Giant vs. Hulk Hogan:

This is also from WCW Halloween Havoc 1995. Hogan is wearing his black gear for the first time too. Giant in and chases Hulk from the ring. Hulk's punches have no effect. Giant beating up on Hulk. Test of strength. Body Slam by Giant. Giant misses the Atomic Leg Drop. Comeback by Hulk. Corner 10 punch by Hulk. Giant clotheslined out to the floor. Hogan rams Taskmaster and Giant together. Backbreaker by Giant. Bear Hug by Giant. Chokeslam by Giant. Hulk hulks up. Hogan slams Giant. Atomic Leg Drop just as Jimmy Hart KO's the ref. Hogan and Jimmy help the ref up. Jimmy pushes the ref over and attacks Hulk. Giant grabs Hulk into a Bear Hug. Randy Savage and Lex Luger out. Lex sneak attacks Savage. Yeti out and a double bear hug by Yeti and Giant. Human Torture Rack by Lex. Giant and Dungeon of Doom celebrate.

-The Giant vs. Ric Flair:

Flair's moves have no effect on the Giant. Gorilla Press Slam by Giant. Giant stalking Flair on the floor. Eye poke by Flair. Suplex by Giant. Low blow by Flair. Flair hits Giant with an illegel foreign object. Flair tries the Figure Four but Giant grabs him by the throat and hits the Chokeslam to win the World Title. Post-match with Mean Gene and Giant says he's going to be a fighting champion and everyone will fall.

-The Giant vs. Sting:

This is from WCW Slamboree 1996. Mean Gene with Giant and Jimmy Hart. Giant says he's going to exterminate everyone especially Sting and tells DDP to think about what will happen to him. Lex and Jimmy Hart are handcuffed together. Crossbody by Sting and Sting just bounces off. Sleeper Hold by Sting. Dropkicks by Sting. Sting tries to slam Giant but Giant falls on him. Giant in control. Sting shoved out to the floor. Sting pushed across the aisleway. Giant misses a dropkick. Sting accidentally elbows the ref when he thinks it's the Giant. Stinger Splash by Sting. Four Stinger Splashes to Giant. Accidental low blow by Sting to Giant after he misses a Stinger Splash on Jimmy. Top rope splash by Sting. Lex and Jimmy fight over the megaphone and accidentally hit Sting when he has Giant in the Scorpion Deathlock. Chokeslam by Giant wins it.

-The Giant vs. Lex Luger:

This is from WCW Great American Bash 1996 and took place immediately after Kevin Nash powerbombed Eric Bischoff off the stage through a table during the start of the Outsiders invasion angle. Big Boot by Giant. Lex clotheslines Giant to the floor. Giant press slams Lex back into the ring. Sleeper Hold by Lex. Jimmy is about to hit Lex with the megaphone but Sting grabs it and chases him to the back. Giant in control. Backbreaker by Giant. Standing backbreaker by Giant. Comeback by Lex. Giant misses a corner splash and Lex kicks him after he's stuck on the top rope. Lex goes for the Human Torture Rack but he falls over with Giant falling on him. Chokeslam by Giant wins it.

-Big Show vs. Steve Austin:

Vince and Rock in the ring. Mankind out now to ref the match. Rock joins the announce team. Fists of fire by Austin. Austin kicked over the barricade and into the crowd. Mankind attacks Show. Austin takes off a turnbuckle pad. Austin rammed into the exposed turnbuckle. Big boot by Show. Gorilla Press Slam on the floor by Show. Show rammed into the ringpost but it has no effect. Austin posted. Mankind has a chair now. Comeback by Austin. Bear Hug by Show. Thesz Press and punches by Austin. Austin using a chair as a weapon now. Stunner by Austin wins it. Show is up and attacking Mankind.

-Big Show vs. Undertaker:

Punches by Taker. Clothesline and elbow drop by Show. Back and forth action. Leaping clothesline by Taker. Taker rammed into the steps. Show posted. Show rammed into the announce table. Taker hits Show's back with a chair. Show rammed into the announce table. Show chokeslams Taker through the ring. A big hole is in the ring and Show falls into too but the bell sounds and the match is over. Show chokeslams the Acolytes and Mideon post-match.

-Big Show vs. The Rock vs. Triple-H:

This is from WWF Survivor Series 1999. Show dominating at the start. Big boots by Show. Double clothesline by Trips and Rock. Show posted. Russian Leg Sweep by Rock. People's Elbow by Rock. Everyone going at it. Sidewalk slam by Show. Trips and Show fight in the aisleway. Trips Gorilla Pressed onto the barricade by Show. Running forearm by Rock. Trips knocked through a technical area table. Trips rammed into the stage set. Rock whipped into the barricade. Rock hits Show with a fire extinguisher. Suplex on the floor by Rock. Back suplex on the floor by Trips. Trips whipped into the steps. Trips thrown into the steps. Trips rammed into the announce table. Rock rammed into the barricade. Rock hits Show with the ring bell. Rock and Trips double suplex Show through the Spanish announce table. Trips clotheslined over the barricade. Fight in the crowd. Rock accidentally clotheslines the ref. Slingshot Suplex by Rock. Rock Bottom by Rock. Rock rammed into the announce table. Rock whipped into the steps. Pedigree to referee Shane McMahon by Trips. DDT by Rock. DX ambushes Show and Rock. -Big Show vs. Kurt Angle:

This is from WWF Backlash 2000. Angle rips on the fans for voting for Marion Berry and says he might be their only hero left. HULKASHOW! The Showster is out now. Show does a Hulk impersonation. Showster is Hulking Up. Big punches and big boot by Show. Atomic Leg Drop by Show. Chop block by Kurt. Show on the rampage. Chokeslam by Show wins it.

-Big Show vs. Brock Lesnar:

This is from WWE Survivor Series 2002. Reviewed this one already so going to skip it.

-Big Show vs. Rey Mysterio:

This is from WWE Backlash 2003. Rey gets Show mad early. Springboard dropkick by Rey. Show catches Rey in a crossbody attempt and nails the backbreaker. Rey hits Show with a chair. Seated senton off the top by Rey. Chokeslam by Show wins it. EMT's put Rey on a stretcher. Show is back, picks the stretcher with Rey on it, and smashes it into the ringpost like a baseball bat before dropping it. AMAZING.

-Big Show vs. Eddie Guerrero:

Going to skip this too.

-Everyone brawling and Show comes out to dominate them.

-Big Show vs. Kurt Angle:

Have this on another DVD so going to skip it.

-Big Show and Kane vs. Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch:

No way I'm watching a Murdoch match. Next.

-Big Show vs. Triple-H:

Got this on DVD too. Another skipped match.

-Big Show vs. Rob Van Dam:

Headbutt sends RVD to the floor. RVD crotched on the barricade and then knocked into the front row. Fight in the crowd. Twisting leg drop off the apron to Show draped over the barricade by RVD. Springboard side kick by RVD. Superplex by Show. Show in control. Body slam by Show. DDT by RVD. Comeback by RVD. Rolling Thunder by RVD. Spinning heel kick by RVD. Show catches RVD and tosses him to the floor. Drop toe hold sends the Show into the steps. RVD gets a chair and Show swats it away. Chokeslam by Show. Show tosses around the ref. Chairshot to the head by RVD. Van Daminator and Five Star Frogsplash by RVD. Heyman out but doesn't count to three. Chairshot and Chokeslam on the chair by Show wins it. Crowd is pissed.

-Big Show vs. Sabu:

Have this on another DVD so skipping it.

-Big Show and Floyd Mayweather weigh in. I will give him this, Floyd is a great heel. Show calls out his posse. It's the entire RAW locker room. Show calls Floyd a runt. Floyd pulls out a big wad of money. Floyd says he'll have to catch him to beat him. Floyd talks some trash. Floyd goes to leave and Show grabs him and Gorilla Presses him to the floor onto his posse whoa re now fighting the wrestlers.

-Big Show vs. Floyd Mayweather:

-Big Show vs. Kofi Kingston:

Show overpowering Kofi at the start. Cobra Clutch throw by Show. Show swats Kofi down. Missile dropkick by Kofi. Boom Drop by Kofi. KO Punch by Show wins it.

-Big Show vs. Rey Mysterio:

Show throwing around Rey. 619 to the spine by Rey. 619 blocked and Show punches down Rey to win it.

-Big Show and Chris Jericho vs. Batista and Rey Mysterio:

Going to skip this since I reviewed it in another blog.

-Overall the disc two matches were good and the biography was just okay. I think they could've done more with this much like with the Bobby Heenan DVD.
