ROH Back to Basics 2005 Review

-Colt Cabana gives a good promo and has the Ring Crew Express on his talk show much to the dismay of his partner Nigel McGuinness.

-Special K alliance segment and Lacey tries to motivate her team.

-Colt Cabana vs. Delirious:

Mostly a comedy match at the start. Nice change up to wrestling in the middle. Colt wins with the Twirly Bird. Good match.

-Dunn and Marcos vs. Alex Law and Ricky Landell:

Better than expected tag team match. Ring Crew Express wins it. Lots of great double team action in this one.

-Spanky vs. Jack Evans:

This was a really good match. AMAZING moves by these two. This has been BY FAR the match of the night. Post-match Spanky is told he will get a title shot bu Davey Richards shows up and insults him. Evans thn ambushes him from behind.

-Azariel and Dixie vs. Deranged and Izzy:

Better than I expected it to be. This was almost as good as the last match. I wasn't expecting much going in but it surpassed all expectations I had about it. Really, really good match.

-Homicide vs. Roderick Strong:

Another really good match. This show is starting off very well. Match had action both in and out of the ring. Very solid match overall.

-Allison Danger vs. Cindy Rogers vs. Daizee Haze vs. Lacey:

Non-stop action. All of them got in their big moves and the match was very solid. Thus far there has not been a bad match on this show which is a rarity.

-ROH Tag Titles, Dan Maff and BJ Whitmer vs. Colt Cabana and Nigel McGuinness:

Another solid match. Story was Colt tweaked his neck in his match earlier so the champs went after the injury. Excellent wrestling from all four guys. Nothing but good things to say about this match.

-Rocky Romero vs. James Gibson:

Gibson wins with a Front Guillotine. This match was really good. Lots of action and it was non-stop from start to finish. Post-match had a Gibson/Homicide confrontation with steel chairs.

-Gary Michael Cappetta out and announces Gibson gets a ROH World Title shot. Jack Evans and Roderick Strong ambush him but Spanky makes the save. Spanky.

-Lacey and her goons are now Lacey's Angels.

-CM Punk and Spanky vs. Samoa Joe and Jay Lethal:

Really good match. Lots of action and STEVIE RICHARDS! Every guy in this match did an awesome job. Very solid.

-Ends with Nigel McGuinness breaking up his tag team with Colt Cabana, a video montage of the Rise of Fall of Special K, and an announcement that the week after the show Dan Maff was in a serious car accident and has to retire so new tag champs will be crowned at the next show.

-Overall the best of the ROH DVD's I've watched but the two best matches were on the Trios Tournament DVD. However EVERY match on this DVD was solid and that made up for that. Going to recommend this DVD.

ROH Trios Tournament 2005 DVD Review

-Opening segment with Steve Corino to open the show.

-Shane Hagadorn, Davey Andrews, and Anthony Franco vs. Generation Next:

CM Punk commentating the first match is great. Generation Next dominates this one. Short domination.

-CM Punk, Colt Cabana, and Steve Corino vs. The Embassy:

Starts off with a wild brawl followed by the Embassy working over Punk's injured leg. Punk wins with the Anaconda Vice.

-Samoa Joe and Bryan Danielson interrupted by news of a sneak attack on Jay Lethal.

-Homicide, Dunn, and Marcos vs. Homicide, Rocky Romero, and Ricky Reyes:

CM Punk back on commentary. This was a very good match, lots of good wrestling in it. Longest match thus far. I liked it.

-Samoa Joe, Bryan Danielson, and Vordell Walker vs. Spanky, James Gibson, and Nigel McGuiness:

This should be an excellent match. I don't know much about walker but the other 5 guys are solid wrestlers. AMAZING match. Went over 25 minutes. Lots of excellent wrestling in this one. One of the best matches that I have watched in a long, long time. Highly recommending viewing this one.

-HUGE brawl breaks out when Spanky and this guy who came out to insult everyone get into a brawl. AWESOME.

-Generation Next vs. CM Punk, Colt Cabana, and Steve Corino:

HILARIOUS part where Colt has the ring announcer read out a list he made of women he would like to have a three-way with. Amusing as hell. They damage part of the ring mid-match. Generation Next wins it. Very good wrestling match. Second best match on the show thus far. Post-match Corino and Punk get into it as Colt tries to break it up. Punk offers a handshake but Corino walks away.

-Gary Michael Cappetta checks on Jay Lethal's condition. James Gibson and Spanky talk about losing their match tonight.

-Homicide, Rocky Romero, and Ricky Reyes vs. Samoa Joe, Bryan Danielson, and Vordell Walker:

CM Punk back on commentary. This was another very good match. Lots of great action in it. Not as long as the last two matches but still good.

-Azrieal vs. Kevin Steen vs. B-Boy vs. Deranged vs. Izzy vs. Dixie:

This was pretty much a spotfest. Nothing too great here to be honest.

-ROH Pure Title, John Walters vs. Jay Lethal:
Pretty good wrestling in this match. It wasn't the best but it was still good overall.

-Generation Next vs. the Rottweilers:

Homicide and the Rottweilers win it. This was another good match. Overall solid match with lots of action in it.

Overall this was a solid event. I liked most of the matches but some of the first batch of matches were WAY too short. Other than that and the ring breaking which hampered the last 4 matches this was a good show.

Wrestling Society X, Season 1 Review

Been wanting to cover Wrestling Society X for awhile so I found my season 1 DVD and this is my review of them.

-Matt Sydal vs. Jack Evans:

This ring announcer sounds like he's on some sort of drug. EVAN BOURNE! This match is amazing at the start. Both guys are flying all over the place. Both of these guys do some amazing stuff. I haven't seen moves like this ever. 630 Splash by Evans wins it.

-Extreme Rumble:

Justin Incredible and Teddy Hart start it. Kaos in third and the other double team him. Vampiro out fourth. Puma and Alcatraz enter during the break. 6-Pac out next. Chris Hamrick and New Jack out next. Hamrick slammed through a table. New Jack hits the ref with a guitar. Kaos and Luke go through the electrified barbwire weapon area and New Jack stage dives Hamrick. Hart backdropped through a table. Youth Suicide out last. Suicide powerbombed on thumbtacks. 6-Pac and Vampire climb the ladder to get the contracts for the WSX Title match next week.

Show 2:

-Luke Hawx vs. Human Tornado:

I really hate this ring announcer. HUMAN TORNADO! YES! Really awesome moves by both guys. AMAZING tumbleweed by Tornado. Tornado DDT wins it for Tornado. Hawx, Alcatraz, Aguilera, and Kaos brawl post-match.

-That '70's Team vs. Team Dragon Gate:

Team Dragon Gate is amazing. LMFAO at Magnum using an inhaler during the match. That 70's Team wins? Huh? Team Dragon Gate destroys the Disco Ball post-match...yeah, I'd be mad two if I lost to that team.

-WSX Title match, 6-Pac vs. Vampiro:

Pac using speed and Vampiro using his power. Fight on the floor. Tornado DDT through a table by Pac. Vampiro powerbombs Pac through the coffin and it explodes. Vampiro pins Pac to win the title.

Show 3:

-Trailer Park Boys vs. The Filth and the Fury:

Filth and the Fury are really good especially Teddy Hart. Teddy shocks one of the Boys and electrocutes him on a table with water and the same power cord he used before. MDog 20 hits a Shooting Star Legdrop to win it.

-El Hombre Blanco Enmascarado vs. Jack Evans:

Where's 911 to chokeslam this ring announcer? This match was short but really good. Evans won it with a 650 Splash.

-Matt Classic has to be one of my favorite characters EVER.

-Tables, Ladders, and Curvesas Match, Luke Hawkx/Alkatrazz vs. Kaos/Jesus Aguilera:

This match was really disappointing. The dissention angle with Kaos/Jesus is the only redeeming quality about it.

Show 4:

-Matt Sydal vs. Scorpio Sky:

Fast paced start. Sydal just did the Miz corner clothesline move. AMAZING belly to belly suplex counter to a moonsault by Sydal to win it.

-Keepin' It Gangsta vs. That '70's Team:

Ruckus was the clear highlight of this. That '70's Team is disgusting. Disco balls, bling ladders, mini-ladders...yeah, Keepin' It Gangsta wins it.

-El Hombre Blanco Mascerado vs. Human Tornado:

Human Tornado's music hits but he's nowhere to be found. He's down backstage and 6-Pac comes out. He challenges Vampiro. Vampiro out and he is ambushed by Ricky Banderas. Banderas beats up on Vampiro and throws a fireball in his face.

Show 5:

-Team Dragon Gate vs. The Filth and the Fury:

AMAZING match. Best one on the DVD thus far. These guys and Evans are the 5 best on this DVD. AMAZING spots in this. Filth and the Fury are one of the best teams I've ever seen as far as high flying action goes.

-6-Pac vs. Human Tornado:

Glorified squash job. Tornado got in a bit of offense but not much.

-Delikado vs. Arik Cannon:

Quick match that ends with Delikado and some cholos beating up on Cannon. They dump him into a wheelbarrow with cement in it to end the show.

Other than the Dragon Gate/F&F tag match the last two shows have blown.

Show 6:

-Jack Evans vs. Scorpio Sky:

I really am becoming a fan of Jack Evans. Sky was really impressive too. 450 splash by Evans wins it.

-That 70's Team vs. D.I.F.H.:

Black using his own teammate as a weapon is great. 70's Team wins again? Gag.

-YES! RICKY BANDERAS JUST TOSSED OUT THE RING ANNOUNCER! This guy automatically is my favorite in WSX just for doing that.

-Banderas calls out Vampiro. Vampiro comes out and Banderas and 6-Pac ambush him. Youth Suicide out and gets destroyed. Banderas and Suicide leave the bunker as Vampiro and 6-Pac fight in the ring. Fight goes to the floor. Banderas tosses Suicide off the top of the bunker through the staging.

Show 7:

-Ricky Banderas ambushes Youth Suicide on stage and then powerbombs a roadie off the stage.

-The Cartel vs. Arik Cannon and Vic Grimes:

I like this Cartel faction. Lil' Cholo is such a great character name. SARA DEL REY...in a mask! Three cholos pile up on Grimes for the win. Not bad.

-Matt Sydal vs. Human Tornado:

This was more storyline based around a fan letter Lizzy Valentine got and Sydal being distracted by it. Marital dispute storyline.

-Los Pachos Guapos vs. The Filth and the Fury:

AMAZING moonsault by Hart. Kaos uses the disco ball they stole earlier as a weapon to win it. This was good.

Show 8:

-Los Pachos Guapos vs. The Cartel:

This was surprisingly good. Lots of quick action and interference.

-WSX Championship, Vampiro (c) vs. Ricky Banderas:

Wild brawl at the start. Vampiro chokeslams Banderas. Banderas powerbombs Vampiro through a table with lights on it. Spear off the stage by Banderas. Vampiro's back is covered in blood. Vampiro chokeslammed through a coffin with explosives in it to win the WSX title. I liked this a lot.

Show 9:

-Luke Hawkz and Alcatrazz vs. Arik Cannon and Vic Grimes:

Vic Grimes through through an electrical box. Hawkz/Alcatrazz win it. Nothing too special but could've been worse.

-Scorpio Sky vs. 6-Pac:

Squash match with Pac winning it.

-Jack Evans vs. Human Tornado:

This should be really good. This was excellent. The ending has Tornado putting Evans in a dragon sleeper and then the bell sounds. Its a draw...yeah, that ruined it.

Show 10:

-PIRANHA DEATHMATCH! AWESOME!

-Piranha Death Match, The Cartel vs. Los Pachos Guapos:

This was really good. I like this feud. All sorts of interference from the Cartel. Lil' Cholo gets sent through a table. Kaos gets backdropped into the piranha tank so the Cartel wins. I really liked this. Now I have a new faction to cheer for. Cartel rules.

-Vampiro goes on the rampage after Scorpio Sky insults him. Vampiro kicks everyone's ass. This is great. Banderas ambushes Vampiro and they fight to the back.

-6-Pac talking to Lizzy Valentine. Matt Sydal ambushes him but Pac beats him up.

-Exploding Steel Cage Timebomb Deathmatch, Team Dragon Gate vs. The Filth and the Fury:

AMAZING Shooting Star Press off the railing above the ring by Hart. Sakoda blinds Hart. The cage explodes multiple times. I really liked this match too.

Overall this was a mixed bag. Half of it was really good and the other half really sucked. I wish there were more than 10 episodes because this looked promising. Oh well. Overall I'll recommend it especially to fans of high flying wrestling, deathmatches, and spotfests.

Khali dumps out Zeke after the Khali Chop. Henry gets in Khali's face. Khali chops Henry. Henry picks up and dumps out Khali. WOW. Henry out under the bottom rope. Brogue Kick by Sheamus dumps out Slater. Henry tosses Slater into the steps. Everyone still going at it after the break. Henry still on the floor. Gabriel elimianted. Henry throws Gabriel over the barricade and into the announcer's area. Usos eliminated. Henry destroys the Usos on the floor. Henry hip tosses an Uso through the announce table. Springboard Crossbody by Sin Cara by Henry grabs him into the World's Strongest Slam. Henry Gorilla Press slams Sin Cara to the floor to win it. Henry gets in Orton's face on the floor as the show ends. REALLY loving this new Mark Henry character's direction. This character rules.

-Overall I really REALLY enjoyed this episode of Smackdown. Probably the best Smackdown I've seen in awhile. Nothing bad about this show at all.

Cena says he's got a bunch of reasons to be pissed off. is mad at Del Rio, and says Del Rio's destiny is whipping Del Rio's ass.

-Overall not too exciting with the highlight being, as usual, CM Punk and his segment with Kevin Nash. This was really good stuff. Punk is in another dimension compared to everyone else right now. He is the best talent in wrestling. I liked Del Rio as a champion. First Mexican WWE World Champion did well his first night as champ in my opinion. Rey/Del Rio was the best match on the show. The opening segment wasn't bad either. Rest of the show was so-so but like this idea of Vickie Guerrero having a stable.

-Alberto Del Rio out now. He is here to talk about destiny, thinks the immigration problem is disgusting, and he can easily make Cena or Miz tap out. Says it's only a matter of time before he is WWE Champion, his destiny cannot be stopped, and right as he's about to finish Big Show and Kane's music hits. Kane says he's already angry because of the rapture not coming yesterday and if Alberto doesn't leave his destiny is to get beat up like Otunga/McGillicutty. Del Rio leaves.

Jerry ambushes Cole. Jerry rips off Cole's suit. Dropkick by Jerry. Jerry pulled into the steps. Cole takes off his shoe and sock to reveal his ugly, infected foot. Cole thrown through the Cole Mine. Middle rope punch by Jerry wins it. Jerry starts taking off his boot. Eve Torres out now. Moonsault by Eve. Jerry has his boot off. Jerry calls out Jim Ross. JR pours barbecue sauce onto Cole's head. Cole heads to the back shaking his head in humilation. Cole grabs a mic and says he will never kiss Jerry's foot. Bret Hart out now. Cole begs off and backs toward the ring again. Sharpshooter by Bret. Jerry makes Cole kiss his foot while the Sharpshooter is applied. Total garbage.

Reverse DDT by Miz. Skullcrushing Finale on a chair by Miz. Miz asks the kids with Cena shirts on in the front row if John should quit and they say never. Miz nails Cena in the head with the microphone. Cena says I Quit and Miz and Riley celebrate. The ref goes to get the belt and finds a tape recorder on the ground. He listens to it and says the match continues. Riley accidentally nails Miz with the title belt. Attitude Adjustment to Riley through the announce table. Cena lashing Miz with the belt as he tries to run to the back to escape. Miz quickly quits. What garbage.

-Overall this show sucked other than the World Heavyweight Championship match and the Tag Titles match.

The CM Punk is Better Than You...AGAIN Edition of RAW Review

-Starts off with CM Punk coming out. Loud CM Punk chants. Punk talks about his story about why he came back. Says he likes where he works but hates the people in charge, talking about creating change by speaking his mind, and credits the audience for helping creating that change. Says he's here to make wrestling fun again, can't make the change happen while sitting on his couch in Chicago, made the call to come back, and talks about Cena being champion. Loud boos. Says Cena is about as much of a champion as the kid with the replica belt in the front row, his title is the most important title in the world, and says he's the real WWE Champion. Cue Triple-H's music. Trips says he brought back Punk because it was good for business. Trips mentions his personal feelings about Punk and Punk wants to know more. Trips calls him a smug, overrated, attention seeking guy who puts too much stock in his own hype. Punk says it's like Trips is looking in the mirror, talks about the yes men, and about Vince letting main event guys go. Says they couldn't afford to see him go anywhere else. Trips wants him to tell the truth about why he really resigned and Punk wants to facilitate change. Trips says he wants to hear his own voice, says he needs the WWE, and did it for his ego. Trips says both Punk and Cena are WWE Champion and he will fix it later tonight. Punk goes on a rant about doing things his way, does a mock Trips courtsy, and talks about Trips telling people what to do. Makes a comment about Trips burying people in his bed with his wife, talks about Trips being a bully, and says he will push back. Trips wants to slap the tattoos off of Punk, says he's not going to do that because he's the COO, took the job for the fans, and tells Punk not to break the rules. Punk asks if he's going to beat him up if he does or if he has to ask his wife's permission first. Punk drops the mic, calls it a pipebomb, and walks off. AMAZING.

-Divas Battle Royal:

Lots of quick eliminations. Down to Bellas, Natalya, Beth Phoenix, Alicia Fox, and Eve Torres. More eliminations. Down to Beth Phoenix, Bellas, Alicia Fox, and Eve Torres. Alicia Fox is out after missing a baseball slide. Bellas eliminate Eve. Beth picks up both Bellas, lifts them up, and eliminates them. Kelly in to congratulate her and Beth attacks her. Kelly thrown into the barricade. Beth gets a mic. She says Kelly's days as being a blonde bimbo champion are over.

-Miz and R-Truth backstage. Miz comments about Truth talking to himself, Truth says they are the same, and they both think Trips being in charge is a mistake. Truth suggests having two champions is a conspiracy, Miz tells him to leave, Miz talks to himself, and Truth tells him to be careful.

-Triple-H backstage. Says Punk didn't drop the big bomb on him and should get some new material. Says he'll recommend to Cena that he should keep this strictly business.

-Dolph Ziggler and Vickie Guerrero out now. EXCUSE ME~! All Vickie has to do is say that and she gets nuclear heat. Vickie might be the most hated villain ever not named Heenan. She puts over Dolph. Dolph says no one can top him and he's more of a man than anyone in this arena or in the locker room. Alex Riley out now. Says Dolph hides behind Vickie. Vickie is angry and goes on a rant.

-Trips out for his announcement. Says Cena and Punk are both WWE Champions. John Laurinitus out now. John says who he is, that he's worked for Vince for over ten years, knows how Vince thinks, and knows how Vince would handle it. Says he would want Cena stripped of his title. Cena out now. Cena says John has never thought for himself and is a Yes Man, starts making jokes, and he wants him stripped because he knocked him down at Money in the Bank. Says he will not have his title stripped and makes a Dynamic Dudes reference. John says Cena is out of line and says he made the decision because Punk beat him. Cena says his favorite Money in the Bank moment was punching Laurinitus and wants to punch him again. John leaves the ring as Cena moves toward him. Trips says he's not stripping him of anything and his claim at the belt is legit. Says Punk came up to him at the last show with the signed contract. Punk out now. Says he's going to get stripped so it's going back to the status quo. Trips tells them to stop whining, neither is getting stripped of their titles, and they will have match at Summerslam to crown an Undisputed WWE Champion. They both take turns holding up their belts and getting reactions.

-Overall the ending sucked. The best parts of the show were, as usual, anytime CM Punk spoke. I liked the storylines for the rest of the card but the main segment was stupid especially the ending with them holding up the belts to alternating fan reaction. The ending sucked and ruined a great show. Right now Punk is on another planet compared to the rest of the WWE. They just need to give him a microphone and it's GOLD. That's all they have to do. He doesn't have to wrestle at this point. His mic skills are on another level compared to everybody else. They should just give him the belt for five years like they did to Backlund. It'll be worth it if they do.
